Bhadreswar Netradarpan Welfare Foundation, an NGO established by people skilled
in ocular management, on 20th February 2009, aims to reduce blindness and any eye-related disease. Our goal
aligns with the National Program for Control of Blindness (NPCB) in which we are focusing all our efforts to
reduce the prevalence of avoidable blindness. Our focus is specifically targeted towards providing services in
rural and tribal areas which are financially and socially weak in the hopes of providing services to each and
every part of our country.
Our organization regularly organizes eye screening and awareness camps in various remote parts of West Bengal.
We arrange for patients suffering from eye diseases to be treated at our two tag hospitals and it has been our
dream as well as a mission to establish an eye hospital to create a base for executing our efforts efficiently
since the formation of our organization.
As mentioned above, we organized innumerable camps for eye screening and awareness for eye donation in various
parts of West Bengal with the support of RIO Kolkata (Regional Institute of Opthalmology) as well as various
government offices. We had also established an Eye collection center at Bhadreswar to support eye donation
procedures.
In the period of 2020-2022, when the entire world was struggling to survive the onslaught of the COVID
pandemic, we continued our services and carried out successfully more than 1900 eye surgeries for people who
are socially and financially weak, when even the normal hospitals could not perform well due to apparent
reasons of the global pandemic. Moreover, we also played a pivotal role in providing awareness to the people
in rural/tribal areas who were under misconceptions about the covid vaccine and planned for their vaccination
after making them aware of the benefits of the vaccination.
As we continue to fulfill our mission despite the backlash and challenges, we are one step closer to our goal.
Hence, it is our pleasure to announce that "Netradarpan Hospital" will be inaugurated on 15th August 2022,
Independence Day, since there is no better day than this since our aim is to provide independence from
blindness, especially for those unable to afford or access traditional hospitals. In spite of the obstacles in
our path, what we have is sheer willpower and the desire to make a difference in this world by helping others
in a way that changes their lives!
Our current mission: To clear the huge backlog of patients that require treatment for eye diseases as found
in the report by our state government report. We are responsible for the entire Chandannagar subdivision
alongwith one other hospital as mentioned in an order by our District Magistrate. We need to provide our
entire manpower and efforts in hopes of clearing this backlog and treat the people who are mainly suffering
from blindness and major eye diseases who are in need of urgent services.
